HOUSE OF AYNAK

FOUNDED BY: HASTI & AUTIANNA MAKARIZADEH

Aynak means eyewear in Farsi.

The name HOUSE OF AYNAK was chosen as a way to honor Hasti’s Iranian heritage and to root the boutique in a culture that celebrates beauty, craftsmanship, and hospitality. It felt especially fitting for a space that quite literally lives inside a home.

House of Aynak was imagined as a different kind of optical experience. A place where purchasing glasses feels relaxed, personal, and intentional. Not rushed, not transactional, but a moment to slow down and explore how you see yourself and how you want to be seen.

At the heart of HOA is Hasti, whose natural eye for styling and presence shapes the spirit of the space. What began as curiosity about the world of independent eyewear quickly turned into a deeper passion for helping people discover frames that feel expressive, elevated, and uniquely their own.

She works alongside her wife, Autianna, a licensed optician and founder of a respected independent optical boutique in Emeryville, California. While Autianna brings over a decade of experience in the optical industry, House of Aynak was intentionally created as a new space with its own atmosphere, its own identity, and its own creative direction.

Together they blend the technical precision of prescription eyewear with the artistry of personal style.

The collection inside HOA reflects that philosophy. The boutique focuses exclusively on independent, handmade eyewear created by designers and artisans around the world. Many of the brands you will encounter here are ones you may have never seen before, and that is very much intentional. House of Aynak was designed to be a destination for those seeking eyewear outside of the familiar world of mass produced brands.

Over time, we have traveled internationally to connect with these designers and carefully select the collections that live within this space. We also partner with a local optical laboratory to ensure high quality lenses and a thoughtful, efficient turnaround for prescription eyewear.

House of Aynak is proudly a queer, Iranian, and Black woman owned business, and those cultural influences quietly shape the spirit of the boutique. From the name itself to the details woven throughout the space, the experience is meant to feel warm, welcoming, and elevated.

Above all, HOA was created to offer something different. A more thoughtful way to discover eyewear.

A place where glasses are not just something you need.

But something you truly experience.
